I am a Black Atlantic archaeologist pursuing a doctoral degree in Anthropology at the University of Virginia. In my research, I seek to contribute to global archaeological thought and make archaeology useful for the communities where I work.
Who I Am
Background
My love for archaeology developed in my hometown. Growing up in Ile-Ife (southwest Nigeria), I was exposed to the rich history of an ancient Yoruba city and its famous cultural landscape.
With the numerous oral histories I received from my late grandmother, my curiosity led me to participate in a few archaeological studies in Ile-Ife as a high school student.
These formative experiences led me to enroll for a degree in Archaeology at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. While at Ibadan, I participated in more archaeological studies in southwest and southeast Nigeria.
These research experiences have morphed my interest in the archaeology of West Africa into a life-long passion.
